SIMULATION OF PROPAGATION OF THE OPTICAL PULSES IN OPTICAL COUPLERS BY CMT, EFD-BPM-TD AND IFD-BPM-TD
Optical couplers, as passive components are the most important components of optical communication systems. Optical structures can be analyzed and simulated by coupled mode theory (CMT) , Numerical methods such as Beam Propagation method (BPM) and Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD). In this paper,we used CMT and FD-BPM-TD that was discreted by explicit and implicit methods. Implicit method compare to Explicit one is stable, but needs more execution time.In these two methods, discretization steps are larger than FDTD. Also, because of usage of wave equation instead of six Maxwells equations, smaller memory and execution time are required. The results agree very well with each other.
