Wider Bandwidth and Higher Transmission for 60° Photonic Crystal Slab Waveguide Bends
In this paper, a 60 o waveguide bend is designed in a two-dimensional photonic crystal (PC). The structure used is a silicon-based slab with air holes in a triangular lattice. Also, TE modes are considered in the frequency region that shows no attenuation. The waveguide bend is single-mode in this region and its frequency characteristics can be improved by changing the geometrical parameters. Using this method, the bandwidth of the bend and its transmission have been increased the values previously reported in the literature. The results show that a transmission over 93% in the entire normalized frequency range of 0.27- 0.28(c/a) and a maximum transmission of 99.6% can be obtained.
