AN ANALYSIS ON ACCELERATION RESPONSE OF FIBER OPTIC MANDREL HYDROPHONE
This paper investigates the acceleration response of the fiber optic hydrophone. Based on the theory of elastic dynamics, the transduction mechanism of pressure and acceleration response is analyzed theoretically. And the finite element method is used to testify the theoretical analysis. The results shows the Yongs modulus and the Poissons ratio have significant influences on acceleration sensitivity. Therefore, a hydrophone with the best performance must balance the tradeoff between pressure and acceleration sensitivity. Experiments using the fiber optic hydrophones we made show the same results as the theoretical analysis, which proves the exactitude of the theoretical model and gives directions of reducing the acceleration response in design of the mandrel hydrophone.
