Calculation of whispering gallery mode coupling between microspheres and tapered fibres
Whispering gallery mode (AGM) resonators, with high finesse microcavities represent good candidates for low threshold microlasers. This paper presents the preliminary work on the research design carried out towards the implementation of a rare earth doped fluorozirconate-based microsphere laser where tapered optical fibres are employed as an effective means to launch the pump light into or extract the emission signal from the microspherical cavity.
