A Cost Effective Polarization Stable Double-Pass Backward Superfluorescent Fiber Source
We devised a polarization stable double-pass backward (DPB) superfluorescent fiber source (SFS) utilizing an efficient depolarized scheme. Its mean wavelength variation was stabilized to a peak to peak variation of 2 ppm under an undisturbed condition. Under the polarization changing condition, its mean wavelength variation was stabilized below 2 ppm in our scheme. Additionally , the relationship between mean wavelength and temperature could be approximated by a linear fit formula, which enabled the economical tracking of mean wavelength by simply measuring the temperature of the erbium-doped fiber (EDF).The cost effective DPB SFS showed a 2 ppm mean wavelength stability when the temperature of the EDF was varied from 26℃ to 31.5 ℃
