An Efficient Splitting Numerical Method for the Convection-Diffusion Problems

In this paper an efficient splitting numerical method is developed to solve convection-diffusion problems. In order to overcome the complexities and huge computational cost in realistic simulation, the proposed method reduces the high-dimensional problems to a series of uncoupled one-dimensional problems in each tune level, in which the Eulerian-Lagrangian localized adjoint method (ELLAM) is used to solve the one-dimensional convection-diffusion equations which takes the advantages of the ELLAM method and the fractional step technique. Numerical experiments are given to illustrate the effective performance of the method. The algorithm can be extended to higher dimensional convection diffusion problems and the procedure can be solved by the parallel computing system.
