ECs PLATFORM BASED ON LINUX TERMINAL
This paper gives a new solution based on LINUX terminal for EDIs platform in a small - or middle-sized organization. In this model, a workstation(terminal)is only the hardware. It is booted through Ethernet. All data and programs reside on a server. All workstations run a program through Ethernet. So data interchange is executed on the server. IT is easy to develop aapplication and ensure the datas safety. On the other hand, using this model, an organization will economize on the terminal and maintain the whole system. The Linux Terminal Server Project(LTSP)provides a Linux distribution that is customized towards network booting multiple diskless workstations by using Etherboot. They have a series of RPM files available including pre-compiled kernels, X servers, and a base package of all the necessary files for a root file system, along with a central configuration file, it is easy for LTSP to build up the whole system.
