Chinese Dredgers Marching onto the 21st Century
Dredgers are the most popularly used working vessels mat are not only involved in flood control and waterway harnessing, but also in farmland irrigation, harbor and port construction, mining, environmental protection and coastal defense and etc. Dredgers are playing an important role in many other fields as well. This paper introduces general situation of dredger development in China. Since liberation our dredger building started from grass root, undergone through 3 phases of development and now primarily has formed our own systems of dredger design and building. Homemade dredgers are now standing on the international dredger maricet At present there exists urgent demand on dredgers bora in domestic and international market, which has provided us an excellent opportunity to develop our dredgers, It is sure that not for a long time China will have a stance in the rank of strong dredger building countries in the world.
