Telemetric Shore Connection with Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers: a new tool for on-line follow up and management of the dredging process
The Telemetric Shore Connection with Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers is a newly developed tool by the Ministry of the Flemish Community for the on-line management of Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers. The regular production parameters of the several production units are displayed on-line on your desktop and enables any on-shore responsible to monitor directly every production unit The system has been developed especially for the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers involved in the maintenance, dredging operations on the river Scheldt, but can easily be converted and implemented in any part of the world. The Ministry of the Flemish Community is responsible for the maintenance dredging on the river Scheldt from Antwerp (Belgium) to Flushing (The Netherlands) over a distance of approximately 120 kilometers. This on-line monitoring tool can be used either by the project management and/or by the client supervising personnel, making time-consuming transfers, indistinct reports and telephone calls redundant. For each individual user of this system no additional hardware is required. Each user can log in to a central master unit on shore using a dial-up connection and the required software.
