Internally Circulating Fluidized Bed Biomass Gasification for Power System

Circulating Fluidized Bed Gasification (CFBG) has shown its advantages over fixed bed gasification in large power system and is now widely used in various biomass gasification systems. Ash and un-combusted particles circulation in most conventional CFB gasifiers occurs between the fast bed and the external gas-solid separator, which was called external circulation. Internally circulating fluidized bed gasification realizes the internal circulation by separating the single furnace chamber with an inner plate and supplying different air rate at the two sides of the inner board. Silicon sands are used as heat medium for heating the biomass particles; intensive water scrubbing is also adopted in this system. This paper presents the technological process of internally circulating fluidized bed biomass gasification for power system, its performance analysis, the speciality of the circulating fluidized bed gasifier and its design consideration as well as the technological parameters determination of some equipment in the system. Comparing with other CFB biomass gasifiers, the internally circulating fluidized bed gasifier has the advantage of compact structure, high efficiency. The system is to be seen as a kind of effective solution for utilizing the abundant biomass resources.
