Application of ICA Using Stimulation as Reference to Extract Task-related Component in fMRI
This paper presents a novel approach to use 1CA for analyzing the functional MR brain images. Unlike earlier approaches with 1CA, only the component corresponding to the task-related fMRI time response is extracted by using the input stimulation as reference. The present algorithm facilitates to use time-domain ICA and requires less computation time and storage requirements compared to the earlier approaches. Results of analyzing the images obtained from a visual-stimulation task and a memory retrieval task demonstrate the feasibility and the accuracy of our technique.
