Space- and Orientation Dependent Rise Time of Visually Elicited EPSPs in the Cat Visual Cortex
Synoptic potentials were recorded from neurons of the cat visual cortex by means of whole cell recording technique. Grating patterns of different orientation were applied to the classical receptive field and surrounding integrative field. Rise time of EPSPs was measured and the histograms were fitted by the sum of normal distribution. In some neurons, distribution of rise time depended on orientation given to the classical receptive field or to integrative field. In others, distribution of rise time depended on the area of stimulation applied, i.e. classical receptive field or integrative field.
