Research on the inhibition of coix lachryma-jobi (L) stem extract from Guangxi Zhuang Medicine on mouse S180 sarcoma
OBJECTIVE: To study the inhibition of Coix lachryma-jobi (L) stem aqueous extract and ethanol extract on mouse Si80 sarcoma.METHODS: Tumor growth inhibiting tests of Coix lachryma-jobi (L) stem water extract and ethanol extract were respectively and randomly divided into blank control group and positive control group to extract high,medium and low dose groups.The corresponding medicine were normal saline,cyclophosphamide,and extract 1000,500 and 250 mg·kg-1·d-1.6-8-week-old SFP KM mice were inoculated with 2× 107 cells/ml of S180 sarcoma cells in volume of 0.4ml,and then divided into five groups randomly.The next day,they were subjected to gavage or tail vein injection for several times.RESULTS: Tumor growth inhibition ratios of high,medium,low doses of Coix lachryma-jobi (L) stem aqueous extract are 32.11%,75.63% and 11.41% respectively.Tumor growth inhibition ratios of high,medium,low doses of Coix lachryma-jobi (L) stem ethanol extract are 77.09%,80.03%,73.52%.CONCLUSION: Each dose of Coix lachryma-jobi (L) stem water extract and ethanol extract can inhibit S180 sarcoma to some degree.The optimal dose of stem aqueous extract is 500mg·kg-1·d-1;the water extract and ethanol extract are featured by few adverse reactions to anti-tumor treatment.
