An explorative meta-analysis to support the choice between radiation therapy and radiofrequency ablation in the treatment of early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma

　　Purpose:Radiation therapy(RT) or radiofrequency ablation(RFA),which is the better therapy for early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has long been debated.Our objectives were to compare the outcomes radiation therapy and radiofrequency ablation in the treatment of early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma.Methods:A meta-analysis of 405 consecutive subjects who had undergone RT and of 212 undergone RFA.We searched electronically using MEDLINE,PubMed,Cochrane Library,and EMBASE databases.Meta-analysis was performed and heterogeneity and publication bias were also evaluated.
