New large hydrodynamic flume introduction and its applications in coastal engineering
A large scale wave flume (450 m long, 5 m wide and 8~12 m deep), was constructed by Tianjin Research Institute of Water Transport Engineering Ministry of Transport in July 2014.As a wave experiment flume, it is the largest in dimension and has the strongest ability in wave generation in the world at present.In this paper, the basic information and main equipment are introduced by comparing with some other large flumes in the world at first, and then two applications in coastal engineering are given, including experiments for wave propagation on an abrupt change terrain and breakwater stability on a soft clay foundation.As to the flume, suggestions and cooperation are warmly welcome from the word.
