Protein engineering of arginine deiminase for anti-tumor application

摘要：

　　Arginine deiminase(ADI)catalyzes the hydrolysis of L-arginine to form citrulline and ammonia.As an anti-tumor enzyme,ADI is being used to treat arginine auxotrophic tumors by depleting the arginine in blood circulationcll.However,ADI”s application as anti-cancer drug is hampered by its low activity towards arginine under physiological conditions,mainly due to its low activity at physiologic concentration of arginine(0.10-0.12 mM).
