Aerodynamic Drag Reduction of Simplified Vehicles in Ground Effect by Active Flow Control
In order to decrease fuel consumption of commercial vehicles, based on Large-eddy simulation, the influence of driving parameters of synthetic jets on aerodynamics drag of simplified vehicles in ground effect. The mean-time results indicate that with synthet-ic jets located at the junction of the slant and roof, flow separation could be suppressed on the slant, which could result in a smaller separation zone and aerodynamic pressure increase,so maximum drag reductions 18.55%with the driving frequency 500Hz by synthetic jets is realized. While the same-signed jets with the driving frequency from 40 to 300Hz are installed at the upper and lower of the vertical base of the body, resulting in a shorten wake region and the pressure reduction on the vertical base.
