Development of a Scaled Vehicle for Testing Torque Vectoring System
A scaled vehicle model is designed according to the Buckingham”s π theorem.Equipped with the simple active differen-tial and active transfer case, the scaled vehicle can distribute torque between four wheels. The electric control unit(ECU)is estab-lished with some microcontrollers to capture some of the scaled all-wheel-drive vehicle dynamics physically.Three-axis acceleration sen-sor,gyroscope and encoder are equipped on the scaled vehicle to collect vehicle motion state signals.Aiming to improve the handling and stability performance of all-wheel-drive(AWD)vehicles,a novel torque vectoring system(TV)is proposed by distributing engine torque to the front and rear axle as well as transmitting the torque between the two rear wheels. Both simulation and experimental results demonstrate the validity of this torque biasing system.
