The System Evaluation of 3GPP LTE V2X and Comparison to IEEE 802.11p

Vehicle-to-everything(V2X),where X could be vehicle/infrastructure/pedestrian/network,improves the road safety and traffic efficiency.Standardization of LTE V2X has been actively conducted by the Third Generation Partnership Project(3GPP)to provide the solutions for V2X communications, and the core parts of R14(Release 14)standardized work has been completed in June 2017 except for some maintenances of CRs.In this paper the detailed resource allocation mechanism of 3GPP LTE V2X are presented, and system performance of LTE V2X is evaluated according to R14 3GPP LTE V2X protocol, then the comparison of 3GPP R14 LTE V2X and IEEE 802.11p has been analyzed. From the evaluation results it can be seen that the performance of LTE V2X is remarkable superior to IEEE 802.11p in freeway and urban scenarios.
