Investigation about The Influence of Variable Valve Timing on Performance of a 3-Cylinder Tgdi Engine Based on Dynamometer Test
In this work, we document the influence of variable valve timing on performance of a turbocharged gasoline direct injec- tion(TGDI)1. 0-liter 3-cylinder engine under conditions of different loads at different engine speeds. The result of the engine dyna- mometer test demonstrates that optimum variable intake and exhaust valve timings improve volumetric efficiency, internal exhaust gas re- circulation, brake specific fuel consumption(BSFC)and emission characteristics of the TGDI engine. NOX emissions are decreasing with the increasing internal EGR(exhaust gas recirculation)rate. But too high EGR rate causes combustion instability, relatively high- er coefficient of variation(CoV)of indicated mean effective pressure(IMEP), and high hydrocarbon(HC)emissions.
