Simulation Study on the Noise Reduction of Transmission Based on Multi-body Dynamics

  Gear modification is the mostly adopted solution for the transmission whine. Because of the complexity, the suitable ap- proach could be obtained through trial and error, which cost long time and many resources. In this paper, a combined simulation is adopted with multi-body dynamics and finite element analysis(FEA).The multi-body dynamics is applied to calculate the vibration loads considering the gear transmission error, and then the sound field of the transmission is simulated with finite element analysis in or- der to get the effective gear modification for solving the whine noise of transmissions. The test results show that, with the approach pro- vided by the method in this paper, the gear transmission error peak and the noise of the transmission are reduced.
