Control of the Electromagnitic Noise from Alternator in Vehicle
The ele ctromagnetic(EM)noise induced by alternator affects the subjective evaluation of the NVH performance inside the vehicle significantly. The EM noise inside the vehicle is mainly transmitted by air-borne path. Investigated by simulations and experi- ments on the EM noise, there are several key factors affecting the EM noise of alternator, including the rotor dynamic unbalance value, design of rotor claw pole EM structure, vibration modes of alternator rotor and claw pole, and assembly of alternator. The present study summarized the effects of above factors on the EM noise induced by alternator, and introduced several engineering-feasible means to control the EM noise generated by the alternator. The methods introduced in this study can provide guidance for controlling the alternator EM noise in both traditional vehicles and powertrain hybrid electric vehicles.
