Nurture Computational Thinking of Students in Practice
Computational thinking refers to a set thinking skills for solving complex problem using a computer. It isconsidered as an essential skill in the information society. In recent years,Hong Kong has emphasized on STEM educationand it is hope that students could master computational thinking through formal curricula and special STEM programs. Some educators have suggested the use of a rich computational environment and a ”use-modify-create” framework inactual practice for developing students” computational thinking skills. The author has tried on these approaches in aspecial STEM robotic program which eventually enables students to acquire computational thinking skill, exemplified bythe creation of a smart fire prevention system.
