The phase composition and mechanical properties of Al2O3-TiC-TiN ceramic materials with different Ni content
Al2O3-TiC-TiN ceramic materials with different Ni content were fabricated by hot-pressing technique.The effects of the content of Ni on the phase composition and the mechanical properties of sintered ceramic materials were investigated.The results show that the proper addition of Ni can enhance the mechanical properties.With the increment of Ni content,the element Ni in the ceramic materials change from spinel structure to intermetallic compounds,both the flexural strength and the fracture toughness first increase then decrease whereas the hardness decrease continuously.The optimum comprehensive mechanical properties at room temperature were 658.5MPa,7.00MPa·m1/2 and 19.87GPa for flexural strength,toughness and Vickers hardness,respectively.The relationship between different phases and the mechanical properties were also analyzed and the phases beneficial to the mechanical properties were obtained.
