Research on Method to Measure Field Performance of Two-stage Compression Room Air Conditioners

Room air conditioners equipped with two-stage or quasi two-stage compressors commonly use the incompletely inter-cooling two-stage compression thermodynamic cycle.Such room air conditioners have been widely used in the Yangtze River basin and northern regions of China because of the ability to improve system”s heating/cooling capacity and energy efficiency ratio under extreme conditions, such as large difference between indoor and outdoor air temperature. At the same time, the requirement on verifying its field performance becomes more and more intense. The core of measuring the units” field performance is how to acquire heating/cooling capacity,so a method based on the energy conservation of compressor is purposed(energy conservation of compressor method for short).Compared with the results obtained from the standard enthalpy difference laboratory, the maximum relative error of heating capacity and cooling capacity is 8.8%and 6.6%respectively when energy conservation of compressor method is used for the measurement, which means that the method has a good precision in the performance test of quasi two-stage compression room air conditioners. The above results indicate that energy conservation of compressor method can be expected to measure field performance of two-stage compression room air conditioners.
