Conversion of swine manure to biocrude oil via hydrothermal liquefaction
The production of swine manure has increased constantly with the development of livestock industry, swine manure contains a large amount of bacteria and pathogens, which can cause environmental pollution while being released without proper treatment. However,it may be utilized as a renewable feedstock to produce biocrude oil through hydrothermal liquefaction(HTL).This study investigated the effects of the operational parameters, including the temperature(220-370℃),the retention time(0-90 min)and the total solid content(TS)(10,20,30%)on the HTL of swine manure. The highest biocrude oil yield was 25.58%(based on the dry mass of the feedstock)at 340℃,a retention time of 30 min,a TS of 20%.GC-MS analysis indicated that the biocrude oil mainly consisted of esters, acids, aldehydes and hydrocarbon compounds.
