Simultaneous nitrification, denitrification and phosphorus removal(SNDPR)in an aerobic granular sludge with high dissolved oxygen:effects of influent carbon to nitrogen ratios(C/N)

The high dissolved oxygen(DO)concentration had effects on the reactor performance and microbial population dynamics of aerobic granule sludge reactor.Different C/N ratios(20,10,4)were investigated under high DO concentration to evaluate the effects in the sequencing batch reactors(SBR)in AOA mode. Results revealed that the high aeration ratio was favorable for settling ability of granules. With the decline of C/N ratio, though the removal for COD and TP remained efficient and stable, the denitrification efficiency was reduced due to the accumulation of nitrate.Growing concentration of ammonia nitrogen led to the increase of PN/PS ratio in EPS as well as the protein types observed by the three-dimensional exaction and emission matrix(3D-EEM)fluorescence spectroscopy.MiSeq pyrosequencing technology demonstrated that the decreasing ratios of C/N under high DO concentration was favorable for accumulation of PAOs and DNPAOs rather than GAOs.
