Effect of different blood purification ways on uremic patients” thyroid hormone levels
Objective: By detect serum hormone level changes that before and after the different blood purification ways of uremia patients,to discuss the effect of different blood purification ways on these patients” thyroid hormone levels. These serum hormone include Free Triiodothyronine (FT3),Free Thyroxine FT4),Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH),Albumin (ALB),Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) and Creatinine (CR).Methods: 108 uremia patients who were newly admitted to hemodialysis (HD) and peritonial Dialysis (PD) were divided into two groups and detected their serum hormone levels that before and after 6 months” blood purification.Results: Compared with the control group,the uremia patients” serum level of FT3,FT4 and TSH after blood purification are obviously lower but the level of the TSH showed no significantly changes. The serum concentration of FT3,FT4 and TSH were not significantly difference before and after the HD ; The serum concentration of FT3 were significantly higher after the PD than before,and were higher than HD. The serum concentration of FT4 were lower after PD and were lower than HD as well. Both in HD and PD,the serum level of TSH have no significantly difference before and after blood purification. After HD,the serum concentration of BUN and CR were significantly lower than before while ALB showed no significantly changes; As for PD,the serum concentration of BUN,CR and ALB were significantly lower than before ;compared with HD group,the PD group”s serum concentration of ALB and BUN were obviously lower,but no differences were found in these two groups” CR.Conclusion: HD has no significantly influence to uremic patients” thyroid hormones. As for the uremic patients who belong to HD group,HD can raise the serum level of T3,which reduces the risks of low triiodothyronine syndrome. At the same time,that causes low serum levels of T4,Protein-Losing and serious of issues towards malnutrition.
