Anti-vaginitis activity of plants from Chinese material medica
Vaginitis is the most common gynecologic diagnosis in the primary care setting.The common cause of vaginitis has changed nowadays, and about 50%-75% women would get vaginitis at some time during their lifetime.Due to its rapid spread, high costs of treatments, the increased risk of transmission and bacterial resistance to antibiotics, it is necessary to review the treatments for vaginitis to provide scientific evidence and rationalization for further research and new drug development.Among these treatments, Chinese Material Medica (CMM) has been traditionally clinical used in China to treat vaginitis for a long time with remarkable efficacy and few side effects.This review mainly introduces the current research on the Chinese Material Medica (CMM) theoretical research on vaginitis, anti-vaginitis active constituents of CMM, anti-vaginitis effects on vaginitis models, and anti-vaginitis effects of CMM formula.And aims to systematically and detailed describe the advance of CMM in the treatment of vaginitis, and lays a foundation about drug progress for vaginitis from CMM, and provides these primary theoretical support for the further development and application of CMM plant resources.
