Preparation of EarthAbundant Cu2ZnSnS4 Thin Films Deposited by Solgel Route and the Effect of Preheating Temperature
Earth-abundant Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin films were prepared by a two-step process com-posed of spin-coating deposition of sol-gel precursor followed by annealing under a sulfurcontaining atmosphere. The sol-gel precursor was synthesized by dissolving copper acetate, tin (Ⅱ) chloride, zinc acetate and thiourea in 2-methoxyethanol.The effect of preheating temperature on the structural, compositional, morphological, and optoelectronic properties of the CZTS films were studied.X-ray diffraction and Raman spectra characterization revealed a kesterite-structure of the sulfured CZTS thin films, and ZnS as the secondary phase was coexisted and its content decreased as the preheating temperature increased.Increasing the preheating temperature favored the reduction of Sn element loss, which was closely related to the decrease of carbon concentration. The sulfured CZTS thin films exhibited large densely packed grain and smooth surface as the preheating temperature increased, and the increase of Na concentration also played an important role in influencing the morphology to some extent. The electrical and optical characteristics were analyzed and its results indicated that the best CZTS film properties owned a bandgap of 1.45 eV, a resistivity of 8.42 Ω·cm, a carrier concentration of 1.26× 1017 cm-3 and a mobility of 5.22 cm2·V-1·s-1,respectively.
