Comparing the effect of An”s Shao-Bei liquid with XiaoZhiLing liquid in patients with internal hemorrhoids of Grade Ⅰ-Ⅲ: a prospective cohort study

  This clinical trial was designed to compare the effect of An”s Shao-Bei liquid with XiaoZhiLing liquid on the patients with internal hemorrhoids of Grade Ⅰ-Ⅲ.Methods Our cohort study included 1520 internal hemorrhoids patients with Grade Ⅰ-Ⅲ class who were scheduled for liquid injection treatment from July 2003 to July 2009.The cohort included patients underwent either An”s Shao-Bei liquid treatment (760 cases) or XiaoZhiLing liquid treatment group (760 cases).All patients were followed up regularly for 3 years, observing index including the anal function recovery and clinical response after operation.Results Among 1520 patients, 1508 patients (99.2%) completed through follow-up.The effective rate was 97.5% in An”s Shao-Bei liquid treatment group, while 91.8% in XiaoZhiLing liquid (97.5% vs 91.8%, P<0.01);The recurrence rate in treatment group was 0.5% significantly lower than that of the control group (0.5% vs 1.3%, P<0.01).In addition, perianal callosity occurred in 8 cases (1.1%) and anorectal stricture in 26 cases (3.5%) after operation in control group.Conclusions The treatment with An”s Shao-Bei Liquid demonstrated superior clinical efficacy compared to XiaoZhiLing liquid, shrinking the internal hemorrhoids with fewer adverse effects.
