Brazing of Titanium alloy using Ti-Zr-Cr-Cu-Ni and Ti-Zr-Cr-Cu-Ni-Co filler metals

  Ti-Zr-Cr-Cu-Ni and Ti-Zr-Cr-Cu-Ni-Co brazing filler metals were designed and fabricated into brazing foils by a rapidly-solidifying technique in this paper, as well as the vacuum brazing technology of Titanium alloy with 0.1mm clearance at 960℃ for 10min brazing and 900℃ for 2h diffusion treatment.The microstructure and compositions of the joints were examined and analyzed by SEM and XEDS.Meanwhile, the mechanical properties of the brazed joints were tested, and the results showed that the impact roughness and tensile strength were remarkably superior to the joints brazed with traditional Ti-Zr-Cu-Ni system filler metal.It can be expected that these new filler metals would improve the mechanical properties of those brazed titanium alloy joints for fuel pipe system in the aviation field.
