The room for improvement of industrial sulfonation of alkylbenzene
The global tightening of the economical and environmental requirements for chemical industrial processes brings the necessity of the re-verification of commonly known production processes performance factors.The experimental studies of the available space for improvement of the industrial alkylbenzene sulfonation process led at full scale industrial plant were performed.The apparent kinetics of the linear alkylbenzene sulfonation ageing stage process was examined.The calculation of the differential mass balance of the ageing reactor for the boundary operation modes was performed.The obtained balance models confirmed empirically were use to consider the available margins for the sulfonation process improvement.The sulfones formation, being the limiting factor for sulfonation process improvement, was studied and discussed in terms of the subject of presented work.
