Coal ash: the best available techniques, science and education
The paper contains a brief description of the situation with coal ash handling in Russia, describes the main challenges to improve the level of beneficial use of coal ash, and provides corresponding solutions.The paper also contains an assessment of coal ash production and utilization for 2014.The main applications of beneficial use of coal ash in Russia are mentioned.The issue of change of the Russian environmental legislation, regulating the coal ash handling activities is highlighted.The paper includes the activities of the Information and Analytical Center ”Ecology of Power Engineering” of the National Research University ”MPEI”(IACEE MPEI), aimed at addressing the issues related to the coal ash handling.It presents the work of the Training and Retraining Center ”Ecology of Power Engineering” of MPEI.
