Placental Growth Factor: an ideal Serum Marker of termination for Preeclampsia?
Background: The pathogenesis of preeclampsia is still not completely known, the only known treatment of preeclampsia is delivery. But when toterminate pregnancy and what is the standard of termination pregnancydon”t reach agreement.Placental growth factor (PLGF), as a factor of preeclampsia. The serum levels of PLGF is significantly lower than in nopreeclampsia pregnancies. This study wasdesigned toinvestigatePLGFmight be an idealserum marker of termination pregnancy for Preeclampsia. Methods: Serum samples of 140 women were collected who delivery at Beijing Anzhen hospital between September, 2014 and July, 2015.70 pregnant women who were PE as experimental group, and 70 women with normal healthy pregnancy as controlgroup.PLGF levels were measured using a human PLGF ELISA and correlated with the outcomes of pregnancy. Results: In this study, the serum levels of placental growth factor were significantly decreased when compared with normal control subjects at similar gestational ages (P<0.001).These results demonstrate that analysis of circulating placental growth factor levels appears to be a useful tool for the identification of pregnant women at risk for preeclampsia. Conclusion: Women who develop preeclampsia in the course of pregnancy already have a significantly lower expression of PLGFof pregnancy compared to those who will not. This test offers possibilities biomarker in the prediction of termination pregnancy of Preeclampsia. The study was designed to use PLGF as a possibilities biomarker to evaluate preeclampsiawomen whose disease was severe enough to terminatepregnancy.
