Aggregating European scholarly publishing for diffusion worldwide:the Casalini libri experience, from print to digital
Over the past decades we witnessed an increasing dominance of English language in scholarly publishing worldwide and this phenomenon is often referred to as an unavoidable process, thus resulting in a marginalization of other languages, not only in the STM area but also in the Humanities and Social Sciences. In many cases being published in a “non English” language is regarded as a sign of lack of internationality. In this paper I would try to challenge this view from the standpoint of an European aggregator, with a specialty in offering printed and electronic content from Italian,French,Spanish and Portuguese publishers. The paper will illustrate how Casalini Libri actively contributes to the preservation of the European biblio-diversity and the promotion of original language scholarly publishing worldwide.
