This paper discusses succinctly the session usage of EBSCO – a worldwide English-medium database – in a community college in Hong Kong during the period from August 2012 to December 2013.Then we first discuss the implications of the preliminary findings to the roles of an academic librarian in the College in the preparation for library digitization. The analysis helps us reflect on the need of collaboration and information literacy education. We further extend the necessity of these roles to the promotion of an equally significant Chinese database China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)in coming years.Such aspects as research support, knowledge management, and set-up of institutional repository will also be briefly discussed.
