Digital Libraries in Africa:The Kenyan Scenario
To be able to understand the place of digitization in Africa and more specifically in Kenya in achieving access to library information for all,this paper discusses and defines what digitization means while highlighting its relevance.It then navigates through the existing libraries within the region examining their role while discussing their role and obligation in respect to deepening access to library information before delving into the status of digitization in Kenya.The paper concludes by underscoring the fact that digital libraries in the Sub-Saharan region is an indispensable requirement in this century since it opens up strategic gateways to the global information besides boosting development in the region.
