AsiaBlight Is a Pan-Asian Network Focused on Uncovering P.infestans Population Dynamics and Improving the Management of the Late Blight Threat in Asia
Potato is a staple food that is crucial to fight malnutrition and combat severe rural poverty in Asia.Late blight (LB) is a major constraint to production throughout the region. This results in lower potato yields, higher production costs and intensive use of fungicides.Although Asia has numerous researchers working on different aspects of LB, their efforts lack co-ordination.Therefore,currently there is no overall picture of the Asian Phytophthora infestans population, which means that information regarding its most effective control measures is lacking.
