Novel mutations in quinolone resistance determining regions in clinical isolates of Shigella flexneri in Eastern China between 2001 and 2011

Objectives:The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of fluoroquinolone resistant and selected fluoroquinolone resistance mechanisms in Shigella flexneri isolates.Methods:Among 961 strains of Shigella(624 S.flexneri and 337 S.sonnei) isolated from from 2001 to 2011 in Jiangsu Province in China,the S.flexneri isolates were analysed for their fluoroquinolone susceptibility.
