Leaf Color(LC),which encodes a chloroplast-localized RNA recognition motif containing protein, influences leaf color and nodule number in soybean
The normal green leaves are crucial organs for plant photosynthesis. Here,we characterize a soybean yellow leaf mutant yl,which exhibits yellow leaves due to the reduced levels of chlorophyll contents especially the chlorophyll b.In addition,yl mutant plants have fewer nodules.Through map-based cloning, the Leaf Color(LC) locus is identified and encodes a chloroplast-localized RNA recognition motif containing protein homologous to Arabidopsis thaliana and maize ORRM1 proteins, which are important plastid RNA editing factors.
