Assembling Ce-decorated highly porous coralline-like SnO2-Sb based Ti anode for methylene blue electro-oxidation
A coralline-like Ti/SnO2–Sb-Ce electrode was prepared by Sn、Sb 、Ce and(CH2O)6·2O using the electrocodeposition method.Characterization of anodes was performed by SEM and electrochemical measurements, aiming towards environmental applications. It was tested in the anodic oxidation of methylene blue, all in aqueous 0.5 M H2SO4 and 0.1 M Na2SO4 solutions. The oxygen evolution overpotentials were about 2.39V and 2.25V or(CH2O)6 addition electrode and Citric Acid addition electrode, respectively.Colour removal efficiency of methylene blue was very high with using the Ti/SnO2-Sb-Ce-(CH2O)6 electrode, especially at the higher current density.More than 84.37%of colour was removed by applying current densities of 20,40 and 60 mA/cm2.This study allows us to understand how macromolecular glucose adding into electroplate liquid contributes to decolor owing to that such a coralline-like morphological structure of Ti/SnO2–Sb-Ce electrode provides a sufficient number of active catalytic sites.
