Concrete filled steel tubular columns under combined temperature and loading

  This study aims to explore the fire resistance of concrete-filled steel tubular columns(CFTC).Two series of full-size experiments were carried out to consider the effect of type of concrete infilling(plain and reinforced)and the load level on the fire resistance of CFTC.The results demonstrate that the higher the axial load level is,the lower the fire resistance results.On the other hand,in the bar-reinforced concrete-filled steel tubular column,the presence of rebars not only decreases the propagation of cracks and sudden loss of strength,but also contributes to the load-carrying capacity of the concrete core.
