Comparative Study on Vacuum Brazing of the EGR Coolers with Nickel-based Brazing Fillers
Vacuum brazing of EGR cooler with BNi-5 and Ni685 brazing filler metal is investigated.The result shows that the brazing seams have good appearance quality with new developed brazing filler Ni685.The microstructure of the brazing seams contains solid solution and eutectic structure by large gap brazing.The eutectic structure has two phases which are solid solution and compound,unlike the microstructure of the BNi-5 brazing seam.The eutectic structure of the BNi-5 brazing seam has two phases both are compound,which is very fragile.The requirement of the brazing gap is stricter for BNi-5 than Ni685 brazing filler.The brazing temperature of Ni685 is lower than BNi-5,so the grain of the cooling tube is finer with Ni685 brazing filler,which gives better performance for the products.
