Rheological weakening of high-grade mylonites during low-temperature retrogression:the exhumed continental Ailao Shan-Red River fault zone,SE Asia
Formation of major exhumed strike-slip fault zones represents one of the most important dynamic processes affecting the evolution of the Earth”s lithosphere.Exhumed strike-slip fault zones commonly serve as long-standing zones of weakness in the Earth”s crust, and the manner in which they form these zones of weakness are also highly known to be of significant importance for earthquake mechanics.Along shear zone variation in physical-chemical conditions with depth results, therefore,in changes in the degree of strain localization in the uppermost crust and in the middle to lower crust(changes in the thickness of a shear zone)
