The Role of Propofol Hydroxyl in Anesthetic-Protein Targeting Molecular Recognition:ONIOM Studies
Propofol(1-hydroxyl-2,6-diisopropylbenzene,PFL)is well known as the most widely used intravenous general anesthetic for the induction and maintenance of anesthesia.To assess the significance of the 1-hydroxyl in propofol for anesthetic efficacy in vitro and in vivo,a compound 1-fluoro-,6-diisopropylbenzene,referred to as ”fropofol(FFL)” to emphasize their characteristics in parallel with those of PFL in terms of molecular volume and hydrophobicity,was synthesized and studied recently”1”.
