Random Au-Ag Composite Nanoparticles as Broadband Antireflection Coating for Si Surface
Gold (Au) and silver (Ag) monometallic nanoparticles (MNPs) and Au-Ag composite nanoparticles (CNPs) were fabricated on silicon wafers by anneal de-wetting the corresponding thin films. The measured reflection spectra show that the Au-Ag CNPs demonstrate a 28% decrease in average reflection (Rav) over the 300~1 200 nm range, compared to the bare silicon (Si) surfaces.CNPs also exhibit a better broadband antireflection than both Au and Ag MNPs, which is consistent with simulation results. This study opens a low-cost and easily fabricated pathway to achieve broadband antireflection coating on Si surface.
