A Comparison of Onshore Pipeline Integrity Management Program Requirements
The requirement to use a formal documented integrity management program (IMP) to proactively identify and manage onshore pipeline integrity threats started in the late 1990s.This presentation will briefly discuss the drivers which led to the North American IMP requirements and how this shaped the mandatory IMP requirements in regulations and standards currently in use in the pipeline industry throughout the world.IMP regulatory and standards requirements such as ISO, ASME, from North America and other countries will be compared and this will highlight the similarities and various approaches to managing pipeline integrity. In addition, the paper will discuss IMP implementation successes and challenges and possible future direction.
