A high resolution time amplifier
In this paper, a time amplifier is proposed to improve the resolution of TDC.Basing on the traditional current-steering charge pump, the time amplifier can obtain a time gain up to 30 by adjusting the ratio of the charging and the discharging current.To enhance its linearity, in this design two operational amplifiers and four extra transistorsare employed to reduce the voltage glitches.The resolution and the measuring range are 70fs and 35ps, respectively.The time amplifier consumes 2.17mWat 0.9V supply in SMIC28 CMOS process.
