Fertilizer Consumption Trend in China vs.the Rest of the World

　　China is the largest fertilizer consuming country, accounting for about 30% of world fertilizer consumption.Domestic fertilizer consumption has grown very quickly in the past decades, until 2007.It has remained fairly stable since then.This increase has largely been driven by fast expansion of fruits and vegetables cultivation, construction of new large fertilizer production units, and subsidies encouraging fertilizer use.The paper analyses recent trends and the current situation, and discusses the outlook for Chinese fertilizer demand, including changes in nutrient use efficiency,relative to the rest of the world.
